How do I install the black box?

If you have chosen the black box, we will arrange professional installation for you at no extra cost. The installer will get in touch to arrange a suitable time and date for you.

How do I install the OBD plugin?

Our OBD option is an easy plug-and-play device. When you receive your device in the post, you will be provided with an installation guide, with step-by-step instructions. You can also follow the steps below:

  • Step 1: Check that the vehicle’s ignition is off
  • Step 2: Locate the OBD port in your vehicle. The location of the port varies from vehicle to vehicle. The most popular locations are on or under the dash on the driver side, in the centre console area, or inside the glove box.   • Step 3: Plug the device in and make sure it is secure for ongoing use and does not impede the driver
  • Step 4: After securing the device, turn the ignition on, leave it running for 5 minutes and take a short drive
  • Step 5: Register your device by going to
  • Step 6: That’s it, you’re all done! You will shortly receive a welcome email containing all of your login details. Please note this can take up to 24hr

Note: If for any reason you need to remove the plugin after it has been installed, check that the ignition is off before safely removing the plugin. To re-install, follow steps 1-6 again and inform us by calling 0330 100 3353 or emailing

How do I set up access to the web portal?

  • Step 1: Firstly, please make sure you register your device. Register your OBD plugin device by going to If you have chosen the black box, the installer will complete registration for you
  • Step 2: Once registered, you will then receive your Hubio Fleet welcome email containing all login information
  • Step 3: Once logged in, click on ‘Administration’ from the main menu and ensure ‘Vehicles’ is selected from the left hand sub-menu
  • Step 4: In the ‘Vehicles’ tab you will see all of your devices in the list. Please check that all the vehicle details are correct
  • Step 5: Your basic setup is now complete and you can use the portal to start tracking

What is vehicle tracking?

Vehicle tracking is used by Fleet Managers to improve the overall safety, cost and efficiency of their fleet. Tracking provides accurate data reports, such as idle time and driver behaviour, which allows Fleet Managers to train their drivers, cut fuel costs and save money. Tracking is also widely used to help Fleet Managers to meet their compliance regulations more efficiently.

Will Hubio Fleet work with my vehicle?

Hubio Fleet offers two choice of hardware: OBD plugin and black box. OBD plugins can be self-installed and will work with the majority of vehicles manufactured after 2005. Black boxes require professional installation and are compatible with all vehicles. If you’re unsure, please contact our team on 0330 100 3353.

Where does the device fit into my vehicle?

If you opt for a black box, this will need to be professionally fitted by one of our recommended installers who will choose the best position for your vehicle.

What is an OBD port?

OBD stands for the On-Board Diagnostics port. This is where the telematics device connects to in order to access vehicle data which Hubio Fleet will then report on.

What is geofencing?

A Geofence is a virtual perimeter created around a real location that’s used to monitor activity. The Hubio Fleet tracking system offers complete flexibility in setting up geofences to receive real-time alerts that inform you of any unauthorised vehicle movements and usage.

How do I login to the customer portal?

Once you have Hubio Fleet tracking installed, you will be sent the login details for the tracking portal which you’ll have access to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Can the OBD plugin be transferred to another vehicle?

Yes, the device can easily be switched over to another vehicle and updated on your portal. Please inform us by calling 0330 100 3353 or contact us at
